LISA has developed software that supports virtual reality of natural scenery, which does not need a priori 3D modelling. The software - which relies on OpenGL running on a PC - reads a couple of images from a fixed camera set and synthesizes any viewpoint to the scene for stereoscopic rendering in VR goggles, e.g. Oculus Rift.
This project/Master thesis consists in porting the OpenGL code to Vulkan code, for embedded processing onto Oculus Quest VR goggles, without the need of an external PC. This porting process goes beyond a one-to-one code translation, since the specificities of the Oculus Quest processor must be considered.
